Manners and the arts.
Why is it so important to have the women, so well practiced in music and art, and also to have the perfect manners? Elizabeth Bennet, seems to be practiced in music but her manners are not as perfect as Jane, she has a very headstrong manner about her. Which makes her so different from just about everyone in the novel except for Mr. Darcy who has the same qualities that Elizabeth has.

I believe women in this time period just have to be good at anything that comes into their hands, for example, cooking, art, and music. Women where just ment to be this way, there was no specific reason.
